Re: [] Request for re-spin on behalf of the MPC project

This request does meet the technical criteria for acceptance of an exception request. (2 plus ones, and no out-right objections, though a couple of "near objections").

As chair, I always try to sanity check the reasons given for plus one's, and any reasons for objections, or near objections) and think those voting in favor stated their case well. And, one of the near objections stated their case well.  But ... Ian ... if the criteria was me not working on the weekends I'm afraid I'd have to resign my day job :) [But, I am not suggesting anyone else should have to work weekends ... a highly personal decision that varies greatly by personal circumstances, just to be clear.]

With a "surgical" rebuild (of repository), I think the risk is low (not zero, but low).

I think impact on schedule will depend on Markus' input on when the EPP packages could be re-done, and if a re-vote is required, so will chat with him later, about that and report back if there will need to be a delay.

I plan to begin the work to produce a new "staging" repo soon, and would expect it to be complete today, by approximately 7 PM Eastern time.

Thank you to everyone who voted and commented. (I'll save my comments for the retrospective.)

Subject:        [] Request for re-spin on behalf of the        MPC project

Greetings Planning Council.

The MPC project has uncovered a significant bug. There is discussion below and more in the cited bug.

The TL;DR is that we are hanging a lot of press and potential for good will on the ability to drag and drop features from web pages and the Eclipse Marketplace site, so this really need to work. Further, this feature is important to the Marketplace ecosystem and will have a significant impact on perception of overall usability of Eclipse.

I hereby a request a respin of the simultaneous release on behalf of the Technology PMC.

We have found a critical bug in Marketplace Client (MPC) that breaks the
drag and drop feature of MPC. Carsten has fixed the bug and a patch is

Unfortunately, the workarounds are not intuitive from a usability
perspective and the drag and drop feature is important for MPC and the
overall ecosystem. For instance, we plan to promote the 'early access'
Java 9 support through a drag and drop feature.

For these reasons, I'd like to request a re-spin of Mars. Is this
something I should post on cross-projects or is there another process I
should use.
