Re: [eclipse.org-planning-council] Naming Poll is (nearly) ready
|
Henrik,
Indigo was just my favorite. :)
Actually I was still testing, noticed
the same thing. and fixed.
Anthony,
I worked in "Eclipse"
Chris,
Feature request!. :)
Actually, I don't recall the vote from
last year, but honestly doesn't seem like a great idea, to me.
Were the votes "summed"? Where
a +1 and -1 canceled each other out? Or, just extra data?
A "sum" is kind of bad, since
it assumes the weight of a +1 is the same as a -1, which is seldom true.
Ideally, IMHO, we've have ranking, so
we could have an "instant run-off vote" but ... I could find
no vote sites that offered that. As
is, a two step run off should ensure a pretty good "single winner"
(and we'll never have to see which is
considered the worst suggestion :)
Thanks all,

Hi, I tried the poll, and it did not register a vote for
the thing I voted for (it added a vote to Indigo, which is not what I voted
for...).
Don't know if it was supposed to work yet though, but
thought it worth reporting...

Only suggestion I have is to say "Help decide the 2011 Eclipse Simultaneous
Release Name", i.e. add the Eclipse (although I suppose it is obvious
going to Eclipse.org).
Cheers...

Looks good.
The only downside with this approach vs. the Doodle approach last year
was that Doodle gave you the option to "+1,0,-1" all the names
instead
of just choosing just one (as we are doing with this approach). Anyone
have issues with this? I kind of like the ability to say that these
names are awesome and the others are terrible.
