[] Proposal to establish the Eclipse Dataspace Working Group

The Eclipse Foundation is pleased to announce the proposal to establish the Eclipse Dataspace Working Group.

The proposed charter [1] for this working group states the overarching goal of this working group is to encourage, develop, and promote open-source solutions that will enable the development, as well as the participation in dataspaces for organizations of all types and sizes. It does not favor a specific industry or type of organization and is fully dedicated to enable global adoption of dataspace technologies to foster the creation and operation of trusted data sharing ecosystems.

The working group will have a strong focus on participating in standards development, implementation and onboarding of existing open-source projects and providing guidance to associated projects on alignment of supporting a broad ecosystem of interoperable dataspaces.

To this end the working group aims to foster a component driven model that supports project collections in 3 distinct groups:

  • Dataspace Core & Protocols

  • Dataspace Data Planes & Components
  • Dataspace Authority & Management

Overall the 3 groups of open-source projects will aim to create an ecosystem of projects covering diverse aspects of dataspace solutions.

The proposed charter for this working group is now available for review.

All Members of the Eclipse Foundation are invited to join [2] and participate in this working group.  We encourage you to connect to the working group mailing list [3] to stay abreast of updates and latest news.  All comments and feedback are welcome.

Please feel free to contact me directly, or the mailing list, if you have any questions.
