Eclipse Photon has been released!

The thirteenth annual simultaneous release of Eclipse projects is a huge accomplishment made possible by the tireless efforts of many committers, projects, and Foundation staff. There are 85 projects in the Eclipse Photon simultaneous release, consisting of over 73 million lines of code, with contributions by 620 developers, 246 of whom are Eclipse committers. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who contributed to this milestone achievement!

The Eclipse Photon webinar series is here!

To promote this year’s release train, we thought we would put the community back in the platform by enlisting some committers and project leads to sharing their personal highlights. So look out for familiar faces from the community discussing their favorite innovations, including:

We also produced 9 expert-led webinars on projects within the simultaneous release. To watch the series on-demand, check out our playlist.

Jakarta EE at EclipseCon France

These are exciting times for the Java community and EclipseCon France 2018, the first EclipseCon France since Oracle contributed Java EE to Eclipse Foundation, surely reflected that. The Jakarta EE brand, now firmly accepted by the community,  received heightened visibility at ECF via a track dedicated to Jakarta EE and related technologies.

Jakarta EE Marketing and Social Media

Thabang Mashologu, Head of Marketing at the Eclipse Foundation, recently read a great post about the often misunderstood, yet important role of marketing in open source community advocacy. To paraphrase the author, open source marketers succeed when they deliver relevant content to developers and commercial decision makers, enable communication, and highlight the achievements of community members.

Thabang goes on to talk about his experience thus far at the Eclipse Foundation, where he describes his amazement with the global community of passionate developers.  We recommend you give it a read to learn more about open source marketing.
