Eileen and Paul, thank you for your e-mail.
I agree China is an important country and I know we have lots of Eclipse users in China. This is why having events like Eclipse Day in China are so important. We rely upon the initiatives of our community to help promote Eclipse into different regions. It is great to have Actuate and Paul helping promote Eclipse into China.
Ian

Dear Eclipse Foundation
@Eileen please forward, I expect my letter will not reach @eclipse.org.
As Eclipse Day organizers, we started to promote the event and Eclipse.
You know nowadays social media is an important factor. Twitter is not accessible in China,
but Chinese people maybe twit even more with services like Weibo (503 million registered users as of Dec 2012) & Weixin.
Yesterday I opened Weibo page for #eclipse# tag. And what I saw?
Migrate from Eclipse to IntelliJ IDEA sticked to top.

Is it end of Eclipse in China or black marketing of JetBrains resellers?
Why every user in China, when searching for Eclipse buzz, will actually find
?
China is second largest economy. And #1 PC market in the world http://www.euronews.com/2013/04/30/china-takes-pc-crown-from-us/.
And as some analyst published on BBC news said, is expected to have more engineers than any other country.
This is call for action!
I will contact the person, who is current topic host to find out.
But how about other media? Frankly speaking, I don't use much. How could Eclipse Foundation help?
I hope Eclipse Day China will raise awareness about Eclipse platform. Yes there were performance issues, while transitioning to 4.2 new platform.
However Eclipse is much richer in solutions and extensions than any others. It also has 191 members, with maybe half of them present in China
http://eclipse-china.github.io/Day/press-release
The problem is they never join their effort in China as they did around the world.
I think China is great country. I think China will become a major contributor to Eclipse (several Eclipse project already have Chinese person).
It just can't be neglected (e.g. China has a lot of Eclipse users, but their Internet connection to Eclipse servers is not so quick as users in US)
Every big thing starts with small step. Please contact us if you know about other trouble or know how to make things better.
Act quicker, Kepler is coming out.
