There are less than 3 weeks to go until EclipseCon.

-Monday, Mar. 17 at EclipseCon there is a new members meeting in the morning to introduce new members to the Eclipse community, process and terminology

-In the afternoon the annual general meeting for membership takes place, which typically has attendance of about 150 people

-Guest Speakers: Raven Zachary of The 451 Group will give his views on trends in open source and Patrick Wagstrom of Carnegie Mellon University will present his analysis of community building

-Both meetings are a great way to interact with other members

-The annual general meeting will be followed by a St. Patrick’s Day reception, done German style

-We will be organizing an in-person marketing meeting at the conference

-If anyone from your company is planning to attend remember that there is an advance discount of $400 if you register by Mar. 14, 2008, and members get an additional 15% discount

-Ian Skerrett sent out an email Feb. 20 on EclipseCon press activities

-A private press interview room will be available for booking in 30-minute slots on a first-come, first-served basis through Jasmine Teer at PageOne PR – email jasmine at pageonepr dot com

-Eclipse can provide a quote from Mike Milinkovich for members’ press releases if you draft your quote and send the full release to Ian Skerrett at ian at eclipse dot org

-Eclipse will be writing a community press release with summaries of member announcements.  To be included in this press release, Ian will need a summary of your announcement and a link to more details – email ian at eclipse dot org

-An updated press list will be sent out a week before EclipseCon

-There will also be some press & analysts who are not attending EclipseCon but want to receive news and announcements from the conference.  Ian will include these names in the next updated press list.

-The Foundation will be announcing its focus on getting into runtime (Equinox, OSGi) at the conference and we’ll be looking for supporting quotes from members using Equinox.  Ian will send out details later this week.

-The judging of the Eclipse awards is still in process and finalists should be announced next week.  Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony Mar. 17 at EclipseCon, just before the Members reception.
