[eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Updates: Keynotes

Dear Program Committee Members,

here is the latest on keynotes for your information

After some mails forth and back I was able to get a confirmation from Christian Heilmann from the Mozilla foundation to do a keynote at EclipseCon Europe. I am very excited to have him, since he was recommended to me by multiple people and he does great keynotes. We havnt spoken about content yet, but he mentioned some cool new Mozilla stuff that he will show and also hopefully some more visionary comments.

A second keynote will be from Jörg Lamprecht from Aibotix (http://aibotix.com) in Kassel. He made a business about selling Drones to people who have no experience with flying drones and by enhancing the Drones with additional hardware and software he enables them to fly them. The Drones are RC controlled, Tablet controlled or can fly automatically. I have visted the company on Friday together with Ralph Mueller and he gave us an intro. He will bring some Drones to EclipseCon Europe, show them, fly them. There is also a plan to create a competition where attendees can fly them in a glas cube either manually or in second scenario people will be able to supply code that controls some part of the flying manoever of the drones in some kind of competition.

The Drone story needs more chat and communication before we know exactly what it is going to be like. I am actually seeking help from a PC member on this thing, not to replace me but as a second person who can supply input on what works and what doesnt. If anyone here is interested let me know. (The base of the Aibotix Drone is BTW the http://mikrokopter.de which Aibotix transformed into a professional version)

We are still currently in discussion with Susan Schwarze about whether we will have a third keynote and who that could be.

!!!!!!!! Please keep the names of the keynote speakers for yourself and DO NOT mention them in blogs until the Eclipse Foundation is announcing them…..(I am sure they want to be the first :-) )

As we mentioned in the last call, please blog about this event to attract more talk proposals. Also and more importantly if you know of a good speaker or good content, a customer who has a good story, encourage them to submit talks, help them with their abstract and so on……

If there are any questions or feedback, please let me and everyone know

christian campo
