All,
I was reviewing the call for papers for ECE. I would like to
suggest we include some themes/tracks for people to consider when
submitting their ideas. In my experience this is important to set
the overall tone of the conference. Below is what I would
suggest.
Anne, mentioned to me that it was suggested to use the old
EclipseCon themes of Making with Eclipse, Making at Eclipse and
Making Community. In my experience these themes are too inward
looking and make it hard for external people to really understand
what EclipseCon is all about.

ECE 2011 Proposed Themes
1. Better Application Lifecycle Management
- Presentations and cases studies on the tools and techniques that
improve the application development and management lifecycle.
Suggested topics include Mylyn, testing tools, integrating Maven and
Hudson, test driven development, migrating to git and others.
2. Models in the Real World
- Eclipse modeling technology has become a standard for
organizations using a model driven development approach. Topic for
this track will explore how Eclipse modeling technology is being
used to the technical challenges for these organizations.
3. Building Industry Solutions with Eclipse
- Eclipse has proven to be a powerful platform for building flexible
and extensible applications. Many organizations are building
platforms that address the needs of a specific industry, like
banking, insurance, automotive, aerospace and others. This track
will explore the technology, architecture and policies required to
build industry solutions with Eclipse runtime technology.
4. 10 Years of Eclipse
- At EclipseCon Europe 2011 we will be celebrating 10 years since
the first release of Eclipse in November 2001. During these 10
years Eclipse has had substantial influence on how people build
software, perceive open source software and view developer tools.
Tell us how you and your organization have changed over the last 10
years and what is in store for the future of Eclipse, open source
and software development.
