RE: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Standard Talks Selection : Heresy!

Hi Oisin,

We can definitely accommodate this from a scheduling and budget perspective.

I agree, t'would have been nice to keep the panel time-slot clean at 3 per
day, but we're in battle-mode, so let's bring it on!

Subject: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Standard Talks Selection
: Heresy!

It is in the final hour that heresy is proposed and, quite possibly,
accepted
by more than just the instigator.

This is one of those things which I said I won't give in to, but on the last
call I detected the soft sounds of people putting down mats for comfortably
lying down in the road. Maybe I was hearing things. But here's my heresy
-- let us invade the panel space.

Let's have 3 panels per day. That is a total of 9. There are 5 rooms
available
per day. Reassigning the two rooms to talks will give us 6 extra hours, or
12 standard talks. Adding this to our current total of 68 brings us up to
80,
which is an auspicious number, and more achievable.

My regret is that this will cost the panels the attendance they need to
work. So I'm insisting that we schedule lightning talks to be
contemporaneous
with the panels, giving attendees more opportunities to move from one
to the other.

Looking at the haggle 'sheet, I see 107 talks outstanding after the first
round. We still need to cut 27. Gentlemen, start your hatchets.
