We are in the third-last week of submissions and looking at Scott's
wonderful kaleidoscopic graph of the past subs-per-week (specifically
the third-last column, i.e. week 46), then it looks as if we are in
the same ballpark. So no worrying about submission rates :)

One thing to point out is that there are lot of Extended Talks
applied for, and that not all will be granted. We shall need to
review these, but we should not engage with the authors just
yet, and not before the end date.

Of course, there is one talk already marked tentative decline,
of which I shall mention no more ;)

So - on to the split up of the talks. Looking for your feedback
on this. Thinking of around a 15%-70%-15% split in L-S-E
talks, and rounding a bit for cuteness, I arrived at the following
layout

  10 hrs ==> 40 lightning talks
  40 hrs ==> 80 standard talks
  10 hrs ==> 10 extended talks

The one notable statistic here is the (relatively) low number
of extended talks. These numbers are open for discussion
in the PC, of course, but I would remind all that we are quite
short on space this year, and that it is better to have more
content. This would make extended talks very special, and
we would need to concentrate on quality.

Tutorials - we are looking at a total of 20 :

   15hrs ==> 5 extended tutorials
   30hrs ==> 15 tutorials

Note that these numbers include allocations for EclipseCon
and OSGi DevCon.

Now, the unconference has 30hrs of time contained in it,
which we need to divide up into attendee space and BoF
space. In the past, IIRC, BoFs were allocated at 90 minutes.
BoF interactions varied - some got stuck in for hours, and
some petered out early.

Some alternatives I see here are, for example, to limit BoFs
to 1hr, and have 25-minute slots before and after BoFs where
people can set up a soap-box and speak. Registration for the
space should be just-in-time and noticeboard-based, with the
board going up at a set time every day. (Don -- some logistic
elements here, access to rooms, AV 'quip, etc.) Your comments
are encouraged.
