[eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Notes from EclipseCon 2010 Conference Call 18nov09

Attendees : Oisin, Scott, Donald, Dave, Wayne, Doug, David
Regrets: Bernd, Ed, Ketan.

Panel Updates - David has had an ok from Tim de Boer for
participation in the Future of AppServers/Webapps panel.

The name of that panel needs to be decided, however there
is no disagreement on the content, I think.

Thanks, David, for the effective recruiting!

Clarifications - call for Tag reviewers.

If you sign up for a Tag, you commit to review the proposals
with that tag, and to be part of the team that will choose which
talks are accepted for the conference.

There was a concern that this approach of having multiple
sign-ups means that there may be difficulties gaining consensus
on what goes into the program.

My take on this issue is that incidents of this nature within
this particular group will be rare. In the situation where
consensus is not forthcoming from a Tag review group, then
the case should be brought to the program committee for
resolution.

Tag review groups should consider nominating one of their
group to speak for all. This makes communication simpler.

My expectation is that each individual will sign up for those
areas where 1) they are most competent, 2) they are most
interested. I also trust that our general level of day-job tasks
will preclude a 'busybody' approach of people getting their
oar in on every topic.

If there are Tags that are not covered at all, then volunteers
will be chosen.

I'm going to wield the Program Chair and set a date for Tag
sign up, and that date is 27 November 2009. At that point,
the poll will be frozen, so no more *arbitrary* changes can
be made to your Tag selection.

Other items
* David mentioned a possible issue with the bio storage - I've
delivered this information to Gabe
* Scott had some receipt of email issues when sent by me
to the list, which we are currently investigating.
* Program Chair has the action item to create the allocations
list.

As usual, let me know if there are errors or omissions, and
thanks guys for attending the call.
