Re: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] A couple more EclipseCon 2010 Panel Ideas
|
I think "Future of Application Servers" sounds too broad, and too product
oriented.
I'd like to suggest instead, a panel on "Web Application Development
Models", perhaps with a fun name like "Do we need new Web Application
Development Models?". (Well ... something more fun than that).
It might actually be the same people involved, and I suspect they'd
discuss this topic even if called "the future of application servers", but
I think "application models" is more of a debatable issue to draw
discussion.
The idea would be to get someone to "defend" the traditional Java EE
models, and someone to "promote" the new OSGi Blueprint Services ... and
others? All along, of course, tying into how Eclipse supports these
models.
Just a thought for your consideration.

I've updated the EclipseCon wiki page with the panel
titles we've been tossing around.
https://www.eclipsecon.org/wiki/2010_Panels#Panels_Under_Development
Some have links to a template page. The modeling one
hasn't, simply because I ran out of ideas. Bernd, Ed, the ball
is in your court on this one :)
The subjects are intended to be topical, possibly contentious
and in some cases, foundation-strategic.
I put investigator names down too. If you feel you are being
inappropriately delegated to, please holler :)
