[eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] EclipseCon2010 Conference Call Agenda Items 07oct09

First item - apologies for the confusion on the occurrence
of the call last week. For those who were not present, take
a look at the notes - I didn't receive any negatives on them,
so they are hence, by lazy consensus, accurate :)

Some decisions to start with.

* It's beyond time to nail keynotes, so I'm going to go ahead
and contact Bob and the NASA guy to check their availability.

* We'll stick to the 4-day format - "alternative 2" in the
spreadsheet. The reasoning behind this is - 1) it's more
consistent in terms of the attendance experience, 2) it
doesn't really interfere with the Board meeting as those
that are Boarders and Talkers can be scheduled to a
different day, 3) members meeting attendees will make
their choice depending on their priority which will should
be a reflection of their reason for attending.

On this call I want to talk about subdivision into some
small groups to address construction of panels. Here's
some starter ideas, to get you thinking:

Eclipse and Code Craftsmanship
developer pride, process, testing, collaboration techniques

Eclipse and the Little Devices
  whither eclipse on small-scale devices

Eclipse and the Future
what's the big picture for the Foundation and the Technology

Eclipse and the Language Explosion
new languages, dynamic and what's going on there

Eclipse without a Screen
runtime capabilities, automation, that kind of thing

Eclipse in the Big Enterprise World
enterprise use of eclipse, roll-out successes, etc

Of course, these are kind of big issues - there's also panels
that can be directed to more project-specific things, for
example Open Source SOA, Modeling, things of that kidney.

I expect project leads to recruit for project-specific panels,
but I'm looking for volunteers to recruit for the general panels.

The one thing we have to be sure of is that all panels are
substantial and interesting in content. Discussion is what the
audience want to see - and participate in.

So panels is our big topic today.

Then - AOB.
