[eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] 12/9 Meeting Minutes

All,

I have not heard from Runtime or OSGi as to their progress working through the talks.  I am trying to get with Jeff and Peter so that we can move these talks forward.  I don't want to give out the un-allocated talks until they have finished their category evaluations.

We managed to make it through all of the other categories and it sounds like we are getting very close.  We made a few modifications in the Short Talk allocations.

1) Committer and Contributor gave a 1 one hour short talk session back
2) Web Tools gave 2 one hour short talk sessions back
3) Linux DevCon has 2 one hour short talk sessions that will not be used
4) SOA, Tools, Emerging, and Mobile all got an additional one hour short session
5) Emerging gave up one tutorial slot that went to the Tools category

In terms of Main Stage presentations, it looks like we are all set with 15 really good Main Stage talks.  NOTE: 16 talks show up in this list, but two of them will be combined.

So here is the allocation as it stands right now.  We have no available short talks.  No available Main Stage.  We have 12 unallocated long talks, and we have 10 unallocated tutorials.   Looking in the system at this moment, we have

6 Long Talk Aardvarks
7 Tutorial Aardvarks

Everyone is a winner!  I would encourage you all to review the aardvarks from the other categories and add your comments (public or private) so that we can make an informed decision on whether to include the proposed aardvarks in the program.

At this point the goal is not to just fill the program!  We don't have to use all of the allocations.  I would be completely happy to have a few less concurrent tutorials and cut a couple of the long talk sessions on Thursday afternoon (attendance is typically a light on Thursday afternoon).  I think less is more holds for conference content.

It is tempting to just give away all of the aardvarks (since we have space).  My concern is that some of the category reps were far more aggressive in trimming talks then others.  Some of you may be saying, "dang I wish I hadn't said no so quickly..."

If there are talks that should be in the program (longs or tutorials) go ahead and tag them as aardvark and
change status to neutral.  Use your discretion, we don't want to start the selection process all over.... (noooooo)

Also, I know that Jeff and Peter are both over-subscribed so they will probably have some aardvarks.  Neither has tagged anything as aardvark yet.

Here is a break down of the allocations as it stand now.
