I think it has potential.
I did something similar on wordle.net....more of a word picture.

With Submitter names

I like the tag cloud idea and played with it a bit - here is a tag cloud produced by tagcrowd.com for our current "all submissions" search result. It could be updated regularly to reflect the submissions as they are entered.
