[eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Webtools description

Scott, here's my description for the webtools category (which I post here, in case others have comments or suggestions). It's pretty similar to last year's description. Hope it's not too long. The only project explicitly covered is WTP ... but, naturally, we'll want anything related to web applications in general.

Web Tools - For the Web Tools category we want submissions for two types
of Eclipse developers as the audience. First, those where the audience
are those interested in creating and debugging Web Applications based on
technologies such as XHTML, _javascript_, and Java EE Specifications
(including AJAX, JSP, JSF, EJB, JPA). Second, those where the audience are
adopters who are interested in how to extend the Web Tools Platform Project.

Feel free to consider this the default category for anything "web
related" that doesn't have an obvious home else where, and we'll move it
to another category if appropriate. As some examples, PHP related talks
would probably be best assessed in the Tools category, and server-side
eclipse talks would likely go to the Runtime category.

Thanks,

Subject: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Meeting Tomorrow

All,

Just a reminder that we have another EclipseCon PC meeting at 9 central tomorrow.

   +1.613.287.8000 or (toll-free North America) 866.362.7064 passcode 464440#

This should be a relatively quick call (30 minutes) since I only have a couple of things to cover:

Submission System Opens

Should happen this week.

Category Descriptions

The submission system will be opening this week.  We still need category descriptions for:
- OSGi DevCon
- Linux DevCon
- Runtime
- UI
- E4
- Java
- Tools
- Web Tools
- Reporting
- SOA
- Test and Performance
- Committer and Contributor
- Business & Industry
- Director's Choice
If you email your category description and the Projects that will be covered by your category, I will update the spread-sheet.

Main Stage Recruiting

I am interested how anyone is doing with recruiting for the main stage.  Have any approaches worked?

EclipseCon Blog

We have eight weeks to recruit great talks.  I am hopeful that all of you will blog through the EclipseCon blog recruiting speakers for your category.  Once we have the schedule complete, we will have 15 weeks until the conference.  My hope is that all of you will post at least once about what your category has to offer.  I think that generating some excitement about your outstanding talks will really help to make the conference more successful.

In the interest of having a smooth delivery of posts (a couple of posts each week) I would like to have everyone sign-up for weeks when they will post.  I have added a page to the
spread-sheet, and given everyone the ability to edit if they would like to.

Scott
