Ok, so probably the trickiest problem is going to be coming up with 5 or 6 non-overlapping general subjects that people can choose from and then categorizing the short talks to fit in those, right? That's going to be hard.

 

Did you consider running the short talks in a single room throughout the day?

 

FYI I see 92 short talk submissions right now. Do you expect many more before 01Feb?

Excellent questions.

• The short talks are scheduled on Tuesday at 4:15-5:00 (http://www.eclipsecon.org/2006/Table.do?id=all&date=2006-3-21), Wednesday 4:15-5:00 (http://www.eclipsecon.org/2006/Table.do?id=ALL&date=2006-3-22), and Thursday 13:00-14:00 (http://www.eclipsecon.org/2006/Table.do?id=ALL&date=2006-3-23).
• There are 5 parallel sessions each day and 5 9-minute talks each session on Tuesday and Wednesday and 6 on Thursday for a total of 5*5 + 5*5 + 5*6 = 80 sessions.
• There will be a moderator - this doesn't work without a moderator because people will talk and talk and talk.
• The order will be published on the eclipsecon.org (because the talks will be published on the EclipseCon website just like the other content).
