+1 to public votes and openess (public = more public than this mailing list)
 
I'd like to re-propose doing the voting with bugzilla votes. Sure, anybody who wants to vote can vote. But it's unlikely anybody besides the PC people will bother. If they're motivated enough to do that, why not? It will be completely open, and automated. Doing plus votes through comments would be very tedious, I think. The only disadvantage is that you can't vote -1 through bugzilla, but you could always add a comment for that. That should be rare anyway.
