[eclipse.org-committers] Storage and CBI outage update

Folks,

The recovery process of the storage cluster is nearing completion, and we are optimistic that all services will be fully restored by the end of today, April 29 23h00 CET/17h00 EDT.

Although we are not expecting any data loss or data integrity issues with the cluster itself, there are some instances where our data retention policy vis-à-vis Kubernetes may have led to the removal of unused storage volumes. This may have caused inadvertent deletion of user profile images or company logos on some websites. As this type of data is secondary in nature, we will work to restore it once CBI and build services are fully restored.

Throughout the process, the team has been documenting events, analysis and learnings into a postmortem which will be shared once it is complete. Regardless of what we find in the postmortem, we’ve obviously missed several steps towards safeguarding this critical service and the data assets it contains.

We sincerely apologize for the disruptions and the lost productivity that this event has caused. We will continue to keep you informed via this list, and by using Eclipse Status[1].
