[eclipse.org-committers] Policy Update: Eclipse Foundation Hosted Services Privacy and Acceptable Usage Policy

Hi All,

We are pleased to announce the release of an update to the Eclipse Foundation Hosted Services Privacy and Acceptable Usage Policy, effective December 2, 2024. This policy outlines the rules and responsibilities for Service Operators—individuals other than Eclipse Foundation staff managing services hosted or supported by the Eclipse Foundation to ensure compliance with the Eclipse Foundation Website Privacy Policy and global privacy standards.

A service includes any system or service hosted, funded, or supported by the Eclipse Foundation, such as domains, subdomains, servers, Project and Industry Collaboration websites, sandboxes, website analytics, and third-party tools (e.g., Survey Monkey, Google Analytics, Netlify).

Key updates:

  • Clearer responsibilities for Service Operators managing personal information (PI) to ensure compliance with global privacy regulations and alignment with the Eclipse Foundation Website Privacy Policy.

  • A new GitLab project for submitting usage reports and requesting approvals (Service Operators managing services that collect PI must submit a usage report).

  • Updated list of supported website analytics platforms and clearer content embedding guidelines.

For more information, please read my blog post about this update and don’t hesitate to contact us at privacy@xxxxxxxxxxx if you have any questions!

Thanks
