      Hello Vincent,
These are great questions, and I
          suggest answers below:

Can we reference issues in the threads (aside from the
              url, e.g. GL-xxx or GH-xxx) ?

There is no shorthand way to reference issues; URLs work fine
        for this

No they are monstrously verbose and not trivial to predict.

With Bugzilla, Bug 123456 was accessible as
      bugs.eclipse.org/123456.
With Git we have lost the beauty of a single Eclipse-wide
bug-space. We still need one. My previous suggestion was ignored
      so I repeat it.
With GIT, Eclipse Help Desk Issue 1234 should be informally
referenceable as ehd#1234 and formally referenceable as something
      like bugs.eclipse.org/ehd#1234.
Most projects have short unique names for their JIPPs so these
would seem like the most appropriate spelling for the GIT issue
      prefix.
