Greetings Eclipse committers,
The webmaster desk has been quite busy in these last few months.
We've been modernizing our infra and while doing that, we've been
kicking up lots of dust.
- we're modernizing our document signing process -
membership/committer/contributor. We're bringing it into the 21st
century and using digital for everything we can. In the process,
our web developers will be addressing issues with our GitHub
hooks.
- we've deployed a Kubernetes-based build infra. Our release
engineers have been ironing out the kinks (many thanks to the
early adopters, notably Jakarta EE for the massive stress-tests)
and will begin migrating standalone JIPP instances to the new
infra in the coming year.
- we're replacing our 10-year-old core networking gear with
faster, modern units. This is perhaps the most impactful change,
which has triggered a number of build failures, bugzilla
notification disappearances and other miscellaneous oddities.
We understand the need for a fast, stable and reliable infra.
We're working hard to minimize the impact on the community and to
address breakage rapidly. We appreciate your continued patience
and understanding while we modernize the tools and services at
your disposal.
On behalf of everyone at the Eclipse Foundation, I'd like to take
the opportunity to wish you a warm holiday season, and all the
best for the new year that's about to begin!
