[eclipse.org-committers] Technology Project Declaration: The EJB30-ORM Project

As per the Eclipse Development Process, we are notifying the Eclipse
Membership-at-Large of the intent of Oracle to propose the EJB30-ORM
Project as part of the Technology PMC.
A brief description of the project is below. A project proposal will be
posted on www.eclipse.org <http://www.eclipse.org/> in a week or so.

*Project Declaration for "The EJB30-ORM Project"*
The goal of this project is to add comprehensive support for the
definition and editing of Object-Relational (O/R) mappings for EJB 3.0
Entity Beans. EJB 3.0 O/R mapping support will focus on minimizing the
complexity of mapping by providing creation and automated initial
mapping wizards, and programming assistance such as dynamic problem
identification. The implementation will be extensible so third party
vendors can add to its functionality.
The goal of the project is the development of tooling to support the
construction of EJB 3.0 entity beans, not the development of an O/R
mapping framework. The proposed tools are all design time only. * *
After incubation, this project intends to move into the Web Tools
Platform Project (WTP) PMC.
