I scheduled one build for SWT issues at 5AM eastern today. Should we wait for the bug to be merged? There are no +1s on this bug yet.

I verified the change and also had a quick look over the code. Unfortunately I don't have time to do the full review as I am preparing my travel to the board meeting and EclipseCon France.
If the change gets two +1/2, I'm approving the change for 4.8 (including respin).

I'm not sure if a rebuild is warranted, but including this fix will make it easier for plugin authors wanting to support multiple Eclipse versions.
