Hi,
Yes, currently it is consumed in the gerrit patch provided in the bug by JDT UI itself.
This is to support multiple selection of Java Elements for References/Declaration/Implementors Search in Working sets. Currently we can select only one Java Element to Search for References/Declarations/Implementors.

Hope it clarifies the doubt.

I couldn't quite tell from looking at the bug: Is there required follow on work to consume this new API? That is, is there immediate benefit in the UI (or elsewhere)?

Hi,

Bug 477340 - [search] No way to search all references to a type or its subtypes

requires a new API to support multi select of Java Elements for various Find Actions in JDT UI. A similar API exists for single select of Java Element.

It will be good to have feature for Neon and does not involve any breaking change.

Requesting PMC to approve this new API addition for 4.6 M7.
