Yes, that's my plan.

The Neon.1 date will likely be around the time of the Java 9 official release date.

Assuming everything works out, will Java 9 support be included directly with 4.6.1 ?

No, otherwise we would ship it directly with JDT. EPP users will be able to install it via Marketplace, like for Mars.

Hi Dani. Thanks for this.

The Neon release itself will not provide any support for Java 9, but we will provide features patches whenever major new functionality is available. [JDT and PDE] (456778)

Will it be possible for packages to include the Java 9 support in whatever form it takes at the time of the Neon release? Assuming, of course, that the package maintainers choose to do so...
