Re: [eclipse-pmc] Migrating from CVS to Git

We currently think there is value keeping the old repository around in read only form and have an open request for it:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=348976

If it's ok with you, we'd like revisit this after Juno when things have settled down. Maybe some of the reasons for keeping it around will be gone by then and we can just archive it.

John

The repositories still exist. Are they read-only and targeted for eventual archival (per standard webmaster practice)?

Thanks,

Wayne

Those were just stale metadata. I have fixed this up in the portal. We're only using CVS now for our web site content.

Greetings Eclipse PMC.

As you should hopefully already be aware, the Eclipse Foundation has declared a shutdown date for CVS of December 21/2012.

A couple of Eclipse projects are still using CVS. The list of projects, generated based on information provided in project metadata via the developer portal, is available via the project status page.

http://eclipse.org/projects/tools/status.php?top=eclipse&cvs=1

It seems that the top-level project has a single CVS repository indicated in its metadata, /cvsroot/eclipse/org.eclipse.cvs-feature. Is this repository still used? It doesn't appear to have had any commits in many months. Can we just archive this repository and move on?

e4, has a single CVS repository as well, /cvsroot/eclipse/e4. It looks like maybe some parts of this repository have been migrated to Git, but not all.

Can you please ensure that these projects have a plan for migration before the cut off date?

Let me know if I can help.

Wayne
