There have been multiple responses to the thread in the maven-dev
mailing list (and I guess there will be more in the future):

I guess it should be possible to respond to one of the replies there as
well.
If necessary, I can also write a response with information on who in the
JDT/m2e/other teams would be interested. However, I think it might be
best if people interested in it subscribe to the maven-dev mailing list
to get informed about and join discussions about it.

Thanks for the heads-up. I contacted Robert Scholte and will try to
speak for JDT in that discussion.
Still it would be great if someone from m2e would join, too, since
many folks will see projects only in the shape as created by m2e, no
matter what capabilities JDT offers :) - Anyone from m2e reading here,
too?
