[eclipse-dev] Eclipse + Java 8 : Release candidate I available.

Please see details of the new Eclipse Releng hosted update site below.
The erstwhile update site maintained by the good folks at SpringSource
   is retired.

With well over 150 defect fixes and enhancements since the last milestone
(> 50 reported by beta testers - Thanks!) the Eclipse team is pleased to
announce the availability of "Release Candidate I" of Eclipse with Java 8

Tickets closed since the last milestone can be seen here:

Tasks in flight for RC2 & GA  can be seen here:

Apart from defect fixes and enhancements, your favorite IDE and Compiler team has also
been busy with various QA activities during this cycle.

ECJ8 - RC1 (with its new Java 8 type inference engine)
        - successfully builds the generics and lambda heavy JRE8 from source attachments.
        - successfully builds the generics heavy OpenJFX projects.
        - successfully builds the entire Eclipse SDK (~250 projects) artificially boosted to be 1.8
projects. No 335 or 308 stuff here, but a fair amount of generics.

While that shows we are on terra firma, it doesn't obviously translate to defect free -
We need you to test - NOW !

Post RC2 (March 7th) only ship stopper category issues will be considered for inclusion in GA (March 18th).
So thanks in advance for getting started early and for reporting problems promptly.

Srikanth - for the Eclipse Team.
