[ecf-dev] ECF Kepler Status
|
Hi Folks,
I wanted to keep everyone up-to-date about ECF's activities WRT the
Kepler release.
1) ECF File Transfer Contribution for P2
First, we contribute the file transfer to p2/Equinox/Eclipse (for the
install/update download), and for Kepler, our final contribution was
done last Monday, 20th. For details about that, please see bug [1].
2) OSGi Remote Services/RSA TCK Testing
For the past few weeks, Markus K and I have been testing ECF against the
OSGi Test Compatibility Kit (TCK) to verify that our implementation is
compliant with the Remote Services (RS...chap 100 in OSGi R5 enterprise
spec) and Remote Service Admin (RSA...chap 122 in enterprise spec). I'm
very happy to report that ECF's RS/RSA implementation is now passing all
TCK tests...excepting one that we believe represents a bug in the TCK
(and have reported to the OSGi folks as such). This is **great** news,
as it means that ECF can/will assert full TCK compliance for our
3.6.1/Kepler release.
3) Kepler Final Days
I propose that we do our final build/contribution for Kepler on: Friday,
May 30. This corresponds to Kepler RC3 +0 (see [1]). Note we've
already made our final contribution of filetransfer and ecf core (1
above), but this final build would be *everything else* for ECF (all
remote services plugins, all collaboration/presence plugins, etc).
4) Git Source References
One thing that would be useful to consider would be to add the
Eclipse-SourceReferences header to ECF plugins (for 3.6.1)...as this
makes it much easier for consumers to git the ECF source of the
correct/same version (using Eclipse/plugin import). I've created a new
bug/enhancement for this here [3]. I cannot do this myself in time for
the May 30th final build...but if someone else has some time this week
or next, and wants to familiarize themselves with this mechanism as well
as our builder, please join the bug [3] and take/assign it to yourself.
Thanks. I'm really looking forward to getting Kepler out the door.
Particularly with the success WRT 2, it's going to be very exciting.
Please ask questions or make comments as desired.
Thanks,
Scott
