Re: [ecf-dev] Status of the irc chats view

Hi Wim,

I haven't been having any problems with it in connecting to freenode...and joined the eclipse-ecf channel...as well as others.  I consider it a stable ECF component.

It's possible that there is some issue with the connect timeout handling (as the irclib blocks during connect)...and disconnect...I think it was Harshana that relatively recently added the connect timeout to the connect dialog (although I'm not certain it was Harshana).

Yeap. It was me who added Connect Timeout. I additionally didn't change anything else related to how the container connect method is handled.

Got to check whether the ECF container connect is performed in the UI thread itself. If that's the case, it could result to such as behavior. Will check it.

Harshana

You might wish to open a bug about this connect issue you are seeing...with instructions to reproduce and hopefully a fix.

Hi,

What exactly is the status of the IRC chats view? I try to make some documentation about it but I wonder if it is stable. When I connect to IRC freenode, the input field gets disabled after some time. I wonder if this is because of a disconnect? After trying to rejoin the channel the UI freezes for a while before an error is displayed.

Is it supposed to be a production stable ECF component or just a reference implementation of a protocol?

Best regards,

Wim
