[ebr-dev] Moving to GitHub
|
Fellow EBR Developers,
I already mentioned that at EclipseCon. In order to get a critical mass of recipes, the EBR project heavily depends on community contributions. We should therefore make it easy for people to contribute recipes. I currently see two major problems with the Gerrit model we currently use. (1) Gerrit is NOT easy. It has a learning curve. (2) The community at git.eclipse.org/r is rather small compared to the community at github.com.
Therefore, the EBR will make use of the Eclipse Foundation social coding initiative and move it's main Git repository to GitHub.com. Once the move is complete, we'll use GitHub Pull Requests as the model of contribution. Note, an Eclipse.org CLA will continue to be a requirement for accepting contributions to EBR. The Eclipse Webmasters will setup a hook that will verify the CLA status for pull requests. They will also maintain the list for committers based on the project committers.
Progress can be tracked here:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/462942
Once the repo moved I encourage everyone to star and watch the repository for new pull requests.
