Beauty! My concern was more that we
might get into some sort of versioning nightmare when we go to 'upgrade'
an existing model in the future. The failure of a third-party tool to support
them doesn't bother me too much (if at all).

Hi,

We personally won't have one but there might be external party tools who
forgot to deal with subpackages and hence won't be able deal with our
model.

I take the point that it's the fault of the external party tools and
they need to be fixed. EMF and the tools and implementations coming with
EMF-Core itself have no problem with subpackages.
