Re: [dtp-dev] Re: Suggestions for DTP features
|
The three DTP features mentioned in the note below provides a reasonable set of initial features. In order for other projects and commercial products to easily consume pieces of DTP, I'd like to propose a more granular breakdown of the features. The idea is to give more flexibility in what you can include or exclude. This lends itself to more of a pick and choose paradigm for certain DTP components where it makes sense.
The following lists additional features I'd like to propose:
- SQL Model
- SQL Query Model
- SQL Parser
- Connectivity subproject minus ODA
- SQL Editor
- Routines Editor and Debugger
- SQL Execution Plan view
- Results view
Each item in the list above would drag along with it the minimal set of required dependent plugins. For example, the SQL Parser would also require the SQL Query Model and SQL Model plugins. We might also want to later include features such as for tests and sdks, but the above focuses on functionality.
Regards,
Sheila

Haven't seen any additions or changes to the list suggested below. For
Callisto, we'll need at least the overall DTP feature, so I'll work on
creating that first and the other two features mentioned below. Going
forward, we can add other features to DTP as the community needs appear.

Suggestions for DTP features
I'd like to get community feedback about what features DTP should make
available. The PMC would like to finalize this list by the middle of next
week. As a first suggestion, I'll propose the list below (dependencies in
parenthesis):
1. Model Base Feature
2. Connectivity Feature (Model Base feature)
3. DTP Feature (Connectivity, Model Base features)
Callisto will be concerned with (3). Other possibilities might include a
minimal-dependency feature for use in RCP environments.
Other suggestions? Comments?
