Re: [dsdp-pmc] PMC Meeting Notes and the Future of DSDP

Yes, hopefully the destination top level projects have some say in this ;).

But I'm glad a resolution to this is happing. I think the Tools project will be a lot stronger bringing the IDE components closer to eachother.

Yes, there's some lurkers out here. And thanks for keeping us informed.

Sorry it didn't work out long term, and glad the individual projects are continuing.

But, if I might make a suggestion, where you say "... will move ..." I think you mean "... will be proposed to move ...".

I certainly see no problems with what you are planning ... but there is a process for projects to move,
and I assume that would still apply even if host Top Level was dissolving.

Thanks ... and good luck.

Hi PMC and everyone else lurking out there.

In recognition of the lack of company sponsorship to lead DSDP, the DSDP PMC has made the decision to transition the Projects in DSDP to various other top-level projects in Eclipse. This transition will NOT occur until after Helios.

Some highlights:

·         Sequoyah is moving to Tools and will become a container project with MTJ below it.
·         Target Management and TCF will move to the Tools project.
·         NAB and RTSC will move to Technology.
·         Device Debugging already moved to CDT last year, but the existing frozen branch under DSDP will be archived.
·         Blinki will likely move to Technology.

Full notes from the PMC meeting can be found here: http://wiki.eclipse.org/DSDP/PMC/PMC_Minutes_11Mar10

I will post some thoughts on Planet Eclipse in the next week, but I would like to once again thank the many committers and project leads for all of the hard work over the years under DSDP.

I’m pleased that the Projects will continue to live and thrive in Eclipse.

Doug Gaff
