FYI, on a different conference call some weeks ago (Orbit
call, hosted via ATT ReadyConnect) I tried calling in via
Skype, using the 0800 number.
This worked even without any SkypeOut credits since
North American 0800 numbers can be dialed from Skype
without any credits. But just my dialing in ruined the
conference quality for everyone else, with a very loud
rattling noise. Setting my mike on Mute did not work.
I eventually set the whole Skype connection on mute
(there's a menu in Skype for doing so), making the
conference OK for the others; but it would have been
impossible for me to speak.
Because of this experience, I encourage PMC members to be
prepared for dialing in to the PMC conference with a normal
landline telephone. You could try using skype (with or
without SkypeOut credits), but in case we have the same
experience with Doug's conference provider than I did,
you should be able to fallback to a landline.
