Diego is now studying ANTLR to understand a little more
about the differences between both versions (and the effort to port antenna to
the new ANTLR version). there is already a migration guide on ANTLR web site.
after that we will contact omry to see what he thinks about
it
If it is not likely to get legal approval, we probably only have a
single option to remove the preprocessing support in the initial contribution.
While I think we can/should talk to Omry to see if he is willing/able to
make the switch to ANTLR 3.0, that is not likely to happen quickly.
Alternatively, we could work on porting the preprocessor support to ANTLR 3.0
and donate it back to Omry.  I have no real feel for the differences
between the two ANTLR versions, so I can't comment on the cost of making that
change.

i saw a previous CQ that was submitted for the old ANTLR
  version (https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1136).
the main reason that it was not approved seems to be that there is no clear
track on ANTLR V2.X copywriters'. V3.X was completely re-written and the
copywriters on V3.X are well defined.

based on that, i don't think that eclipse legal will
  approve this old version :(

I saw the discussion on ANTLR usage.  I think we should go back to
Eclipse legal and request approval for the older version of ANTLR.  I
can't imagine why there would be a substantial issue.

    Hi craig,
We just saw with eclipse legal
that we will have a legal issue to support current version of antenna
preprocessing. The main problem is in a nested jar that it uses (ANTLR).
Currently, version 2.7.6 is used by antenna and this version is not approved
by eclipse legal. Only newer versions of ANTLR can be used (3.x), but the
newer version is not yet supported by antenna preprocessing (we talked with
    omry today about it)
I just see one possible plan for
us to keep the initial EclipseME contribution: - drop preprocessing support in current
initial contribution :( - work with omry to see how to update antenna preprocessing to use
the latest ANTLR version - add the preprocessing back
Are you ok with that? Do you see
    any other possible plan?
    :) gep
