RE: [dsdp-dd-dev] DD M7 Manual Testing
|
Sorry, but I had to leave my post. I'm back now.
So, thanks for everyone's help, but I must be doing something stupid
because nothing worked.
I tried the dropins/ but it didn't trigger.
I then tried the Archive... with both a zip file and with a jar file.
In both cases, when clicking Install... I get an window with nothing to
install. (except for one time where it somehow found a DD update site,
but then failed to find what it was looking for after connecting to it...
that was particularly weird.)
Looking at the doc that Darin sent (thanks), I found that I could still
use UpdateManager, by turning on Classic Update under General->Capabilities.
However, I don't even know how to use the UpdateManager, as I was one
of those users mentioned in the doc, who simply dropped everything
in plugins/
As a side note, I wasn't able to install CDT with these methods but only
through the update site (p2).
So, at this time, I can't install the DSF M7 build :-(
If someone has an idea, feel free to let me know. If not, then I suggest
that we have a Webex session tomorrow in our meeting and I can show you what
I am doing. I must be overlooking something obvious and I am preparing myself
to be made to look foolish :-)
Thanks again.
Marc

Oops, I should have been more clear. Do install CDT using P2/Update Manager. DD build drops are not set up to use with the update manager, and I'm not sure what it would take to get them there. So I extracted the DD zips into the dropins directory.

Forget the dropins folder. It's some evil dark magic that doesn't do
what you expect.
To install the CDT, download the master zip. In the software updates
dialog on the Available Features tab, click add site. In that dialog
click Archive and add the path to the zip there. You should then have
the CDT features in the Available Features list. Select them (probably
everything in CDT Main Features) and click Install.
That's the p2 way to install. Unzipping will likely never work again
(althought I think that's what the dropins folder really is - unzip into
there - but don't do that ;).

Marc,
Do you have CDT installed? I extracted the plugins directly
to the dropins directory, and just ignored the features.

What about the features?

This is likely due to p2 - the replacement for update manager. New
plug-ins/features are only realized if they are properly installed.
Can you try putting the DSF plug-ins in to the "dropins"
folder inside
the eclipse install (should be at the same level as the
/plugins folder)?

RE: [dsdp-dd-dev] DD M7 Manual Testing
Hi,
I'm having trouble installing DSF with eclipse M7.
If I unzip the DSF zip files into my plugins and features
directory,
they do not appear when I start eclipse...
I had the same problem with CDT. Francois had to show me how to
download it from the site:
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/ganymede/staging/
Was anyone able to install the DSF zip files yet?

Hi All,
I created a test coordination page for DD M7 manual testing effort:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/DD_1.0_M7_Testing. Please sign up for
features you would like to test.
The DD build should be available shortly although it was
built against
M6 version of CDT. CDT 5.0 M7 (build I.I200805021701) is
still being
tested and it won't be finilized at least until end of the
day today.
Cheers,
Pawel
