[dataspace-wg] Strategic Security Update: Project Glasswing, and the Next Phase of Vulnerability for EDWG

Dear Eclipse Dataspace Community,

We would like to share an important announcement regarding our proactive stance on cybersecurity, recently outlined on the Eclipse Foundation Blog: Frontier AI and the next phase of software vulnerability defence.

The Frontier AI Shift & Project Glasswing

As most of you know, frontier AI systems actively assist in autonomous vulnerability discovery and exploitability analysis.
To defend against this emerging wave, the Eclipse Foundation —through our longstanding partnership with the Alpha Omega Project—has actively participated in Anthropic’s Project Glasswing since its inception. This initiative grants early access to Claude Mythos Preview, a frontier model that delivers a step-change in cyber-performance and autonomous multi-step defensive security workflows.

Crucially, the Eclipse Foundation is currently the only European-domiciled entity with access to the Mythos platform. This unique vantage point ensures that European-led open source dataspace initiatives are backed by the world’s most sophisticated AI-assisted infrastructure.

What This Means for EDWG Projects

This development highlights the significant value of projects affiliated with the Eclipse Foundation, including projects under the umbrella of the EDWG. Projects will be proactively notified about vulnerabilities according to our established Eclipse Security Policy

Thank you for your continued commitment to building high-quality, secure, and safe open source software.

Best regards,

Javier Valiño
