Dear Dataspace Protocol Community,
This is an early, informal heads-up. The formal notification will follow through the usual channels once the review is fully in place.
Today we initiated the Release Review for a service release of the Dataspace Protocol.
This service release captures a set of documentation-only changes to the specification's terminology that have accumulated since the current release, without altering any protocol message, state machine, or schema.
The primary driver is a comment, raised during the ISO/IEC DIS 26450 ballot, the PAS transposition of the Dataspace Protocol to ISO/IEC JTC1. The comment asked for clarification of how this specification's terminology aligns with ISO/IEC 20151-1. The disposition,
agreed in the Comment Resolution Meeting on 2026-08-25, was to update the Dataspace definition's source citation to the current ISO/IEC FDIS 20151-1 stage and to add the supporting definitions it depends on (Data Sharing, Environment, Governance, and Governance
Framework), each with its own source citation. The release also formalizes ISO/IEC FDIS 20151-1, ISO/IEC 38500:2024, and ISO/IEC 7498-1:1994 as proper bibliography entries, so both documents share consistent, traceable terminology ahead of further comment
resolution.
