I have been working with Ed Burns (Jakarta EE platform spec lead) and Otavio on requesting a 1 month extension to the component specification release review deadline for Jakarta Data so that we can include the feature to define a Jakarta
Data Query language that is a subset of JPQL.  Here is the wording of the proposal.  I wanted to let everyone know this now, because gaining the extension will require us to wind down and stop other changes that aren’t for the query language.  Here are the
 conditions:

Jakarta Data specification committers must agree to limit the scope
for additional changes beyond the current state of the spec as
   follows:

      - Define the Jakarta Data Query Language as a subset of JPQL.

      - Author TCK tests for the Query Language.

      - For other work that is in progress, if not agreed on by
committers and merged by 2024-03-08, then it must be deferred
        to Future.

      - Defer all other issues/pulls to Future (including those which
have not yet been opened) in order to focus on getting the
Query Language and its TCK complete.

      - Have all of the TCK tests passing by 2024-04-19.

      - Agree to create a Jakarta Data 1.0 release candidate by 2024-04-19.

      - Remaining time to be used for at least one published
compatible implementation to be available in minimum alpha
        form.

      - Submit for component specification release review for 2024-05-31.
