Re: [dash-dev] [GSoC 2026] Introduction and Inquiry: Restructuring the Eclipse Project Handbook

Hi Sakshi.

I believe that using Antora is a necessary part of the solution. I don't know this for certain; I look forward to your recommendation.

The Maven-based build was put in place because I understand and have experience with Maven. If another build solution makes more sense, then I will support adopting that solution. Again, I look forward to your recommendation.

This project idea is standalone. There are no related "good first issues".

Hi Wayne and the Dash team,

My name is Sakshi Chavan, and I am a student interested in participating in GSoC 2026 with the Eclipse Foundation.

I have been exploring the "Restructure the Eclipse Project Handbook" project idea. To get started, I have already:

  1. Cloned the org.eclipse.dash.handbook repository.

  2. Successfully configured my local environment and ran the Maven build (mvn clean verify).

  3. Signed the Eclipse Contributor Agreement (ECA).

  4. Verified the build output and explored the AsciiDoc source files in the src directory.

I see that the current handbook uses the asciidoctor-maven-plugin to assemble multiple .adoc files into a single large HTML page. I am currently researching modernizing this into a multi-page format.

I noticed that the project description mentions a preference for a style similar to the official Asciidoctor documentation. Are you leaning towards a migration to Antora, or would you prefer a solution that stays within the current Maven-based build system?

I am excited to contribute and would appreciate any early guidance or "good first issues" you might suggest to help me better understand the project requirements.

Best regards,
Sakshi Chavan
