[cross-project-issues-dev] Retirement of /opt/public

Hi,

In the early days of CI at the Eclipse Foundation, build.eclipse.org used to serve content from sub directories of /opt/public and CI instances used shared build tools like JDKs, Maven and Ant from /opt/public/common. build.eclipse.org has been retired and our cluster based CI infrastructure uses a different location for shared build tools now. Project specific content under /opt/public is no longer supported and deprecated.

What is going to happen?

- /opt/public/common will be removed
* if projects still use scripts which rely on tools in /opt/public/common, those scripts will need to be adapted
- /opt/public/modeling,
  /opt/public/mylyn and
  /opt/public/rt will be removed
* if projects still rely on storing data in those directories, scripts will need to be adapted accordingly

When is it going away?

- we are aiming to remove the mentioned folders on June 1, 2023

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Regards,

Fred
