Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Responsible usage of disk space on download.eclipse.org

Edd,

This is great! How often is the report generated?

I'll file an enhancement against the download.e.o 404 handler/directory index (such as seen here: https://download.eclipse.org/oomph/) to include size metrics from your report.

Dennis,

Because you asked so nicely, I've created the follow page to fully index download.eclipse.org:

  https://download.eclipse.org/oomph/archive/download.eclipse/index.html

It looks and works like the mirror report:

Except the links navigate to the raw file system view:

Perhaps such a report for archive.eclipse.org would be good too...

I'll try to find time to clean up the justj "sandboxes" too...

Ed

Ed,

We would happily collaborate with you on a tool that shows download.e.o footprint, and could run directly on download.e.o

What Ed said. That's why I did not include the link.

Roland,

Yes, though this is designed to show the footprint on mirrors not the
pure footprint on download.eclipse.org.  The difference is that some
thing such as integration and nightly builds, which are expected to be
relatively transient, are not mirrored:

If I find some spare time (hahaha)  I can try to generate a report for
the full footprint on download.eclipse.org.

Ed

Hi,

This is a friendly reminder to act responsible with shared resources,
in
this case: disk space on download.eclipse.org.

The download server is the right place to store all your project's
deliverables like binaries, update sites, etc.

I've always found http://download.eclipse.org/oomph/archive/eclipse/ to
be a useful page to check for when some manual intervention may be
required.
