I will try your protocol version setting and comment on the bug.

when using the Windows git client, but only with the eclipse.org git server and not with the linux client. A git config entry of

helped. Were there any git config changes of version upgrades with the emergency maintenance? We will investigate a bit further but if anyone has an idea it would be most welcome.
