Are 2 months not enough to validate a new version ?

From my chair it's plenty...but as I suspect all are aware there's more to it than that.

It was introduced in Orbit I20180417184143
and it seems it's not really a new version but a new Orbit build of the same version.

So there are two things mixed in this discussion. There was no reason for ECF to not adopt the latest rebuild of the same version from Orbit.

True, except that I wasn't aware of this rebuild of the same version (no request opened).

It is recommended that projects update the Orbit repo they use to build for each milestone. That would have catched the issue and it would be nice if ECF does so from now on.
Further more it would be really helpful if projects higher in the stack help with keeping the release train consistent - help with that is always more than welcome. I can speak for Platform but I bet ECF wouldn't mind some help too.

   As per this bug:

I was waiting for httpclient 4.5.5/4.4.9 to appear in Orbit until after M7 as Aleksandar says below.

To what I said please don't do it was moving to httpclient 4.5.5 and httpcore 4.4.9 (in private email with Scott) on May 10th (aka after M7). That would have been even worse case expecting every project to move to new version of httpclient post M7.
Scott, would you please move ECF to httpclient 4.5.5 and httpcore 4.4.9 and give us a build so we can base on the new versions from the start of 4.9?

Yes.  Although it will be a couple of weeks from now.
