Two questions:
1. Can you confirm that there is no breakage and we can move to the new
version without doing any work/investigation?
Answering for ECF here. Although historically Apache httpcomponents
is generally pretty good about no regression, we haven't yet tested that
there is no breakage in the parts used by ECF. The main reason
we haven't done so is that these new versions haven't yet been added to
Orbit, and ECF has traditionally waited until the Orbit migration has been
done (previously by Mylyn or Linuxtools) before doing the testing, as we
don't have Orbit commit rights.
As per Ed's recently reply: I think the next steps with this
is to get the latest versions into Orbit so that all the consumers...including
ECF...can test for regression with our existing test suite. We/ECF
cannot do that, so part of this is a request to have the existing Orbit
httpcomponents maintainers take that up.
2. Can we assume that this is for Photon
only?
Yes.

Intent to update HttpComponents bundles
Sent by: cross-project-issues-dev-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxx
Hi all,
I'd like to make known my intent to update the httpcomponent bundles in
orbit on behalf of ECF.
There've been releases made upstream for both client and core components,
so I'd like to make the following updates:
> httpcomponents-client 4.5.3
> httpcomponents-core 4.4.7
I was asked to notify the other consumers on this list so that we can coordinate
and avoid any potential issues with having multiple versions of httpcomponents
in the SR repos... So I guess please reply and let me know if there are
any objections to this.
Thanks,
