RE: [cross-project-issues-dev] Notes and screenshots of install p roblems
|
I've been trying to install the Callisto feature at various times over the
past couple of days with no success. Like most others on this email, the
errors I get are never quite the same from attempt to attempt. One thing
I'd note (and apologies if this has already been discussed by the group --
trying to keep up with the discussions....) that "403 forbidden" errors
sporadically appear and then later disappear. With our regular DTP builds
I've gotten this error consistently if I attempt a download from the main
eclipse.org site just after having completed the upload. If I wait a few
minutes (less than 5), the error goes away.

Note that even with the IBM internal mirror I sometimes get weird errors.
Would it be possible that it is caused by server load and a few wrong
parameters on it?

I get the same and have added my two bits to the bug report. The BIRT guys
have some more work to do.
So my path to success was a weird one. I have copied the contents of the
callisto/releases directory to a secret location on a different server and
was able to select all of Callisto and have it download/install (the birt
messages aside). This tells me there is something funky happening with the
Eclipse web server. Is the Webmaster in?
I imagine that once the mirrors catch up, they should work fine, too.

I got some mysterious error about a corrupted jar file from GMF.
Unfortunately when the error occur in the update code, the looked-up file
is in a temp folder in with generated name so I can't really say more. Did
anybody see that?

Just to add to the mayhem, I think I’m seeing two separate problems.
1. The random failures when using eclipse.org. The infamous 403’s.
2. A consistent failure using the OSU mirror. An infamous 404 on
org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.emitter.html_2.1.0…..
It looks like OSU missed a file. I’ll try a touch on it and see if it kicks
a resync there.

I'm being invisibly rerouted to an IBM mirror. Tonight I will try from home
and from a Mac box to make it more fun :-)

Pascal,
Are you (invisibly) using some internal IBM mirror to update from, perhaps?
What if you went to a Starbucks with a laptop and tried it from outside the
firewall? Just a theory...
Since yesterday I have successfully installed all the projects from
callisto several times.
Today I encountered a few errors (mostly time and missing files) but
nothing too weird.
It is unforntunate that you guys have the errors and I don't as I'm looking
at fixing some those bugs...
