+1

This proposal sounds useful and within the scope
of the COSMOS project.

It may be premature to discuss implementation details,
but it appears that many of the things that the SDD service will need to do are
fairly similar to the things that a data broker does, so we may have an
opportunity to build upon existing functionality in some of
those areas.

COSMOS Committers,
In August, Jason Losh of SAS took the
COSMOS team through a proposal to implement an SDD runtime and tooling in
COSMOS.  The general consensus was that the team supported this proposal,
however, a few members requested additional time to review it.  The
additional reviews have been completed; therefore, we are ready to put the
proposal to a vote.  Here is a link for your reference:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/images/3/3c/SDD.zip.
Please respond with a +1 if you approve this proposal, 0
if you abstain, and -1 to veto.  Voting will be open until Tuesday,
December 4.

Jason,
Thanks for dropping us a line.
>From a COSMOS perspective, I'll use
your note as a catalyst to circle back with the team to get a sense of if they
have made any progress.  Of course, feel free to join the architecture
meeting or the community call and ask the question yourself.  I'd be happy
to get you on the agenda for either of those meetings.
>From an IBM point of view, we've
been working with various teams internally to understand the scope and
alignment/impact with our products and how we might be able to support and
contribute to this work.  While we've made some good progress, we are still
in the process of vetting the proposal and I will get you some feedback
ASAP.
Thanks
again,
-Mark
W.

Hi COSMOS team,
A
couple of weeks ago I gave a presentation on proposed work as part of
COSMOS
for an SDD runtime.  Since then I have received some excellent
feedback
and questions.  I wanted to post to the group at large to find
out if
there are any other questions or follow-up folks might have.
Also, if you
would like to put me in touch with install
developers/release engineers
within your respective companies to discuss
SDD and work we'd like to do
surrounding it, I'd be more than willing to
talk to
them.
Regards,
-Jason
