I see the problem is wider than I thought. My original concern was 
rather if we have the same functionality in OSGi and in Eclipse Platform 
should we rather use OSGi or rather Eclipse. But it seems that this is 
the same type of question as services vs. extension points.

But keeping the context of logging I would filter solutions that are 
able to produce log in Eclipse format. I think we should be uniform with 
it, especially that as you mentioned - there are already tools for 
viewing it in Eclipse.
